MMOexp Nonstop Fun! PoE 2 0.5 Gemling Crit Cast Build: Infinite Blink + Comets

#1
Summary

Still playing a Cast on Critical Strike build that constantly gets stuck waiting for cooldowns? Struggling to chain Blink and trigger Comet, even after investing in expensive Uniques? This Gemling Legionnaire build solves all of those problems. With near-zero cooldown Blink, automatic Comet triggers,  POE 2 Currency and powerful Ascendancy synergies, you can instantly clear packs, melt bosses, and enjoy a smooth playstyle that requires very little manual input.

1. Gemling Legionnaire Is the Hidden MVP of Patch 0.5

This setup is ideal for players looking to move beyond traditional Cast on Crit builds without relying on costly Unique items. Most of the power comes directly from the Gemling Legionnaire Ascendancy.

The core Advanced Ascendancy node grants every skill its Alternate Quality effect without requiring expensive gems.
Free quality bonuses include extra projectiles for Spark, increased Critical Strike Chance for Cast on Critical Strike, and a 10x Life multiplier for Frost Wall.
These quality bonuses stack together, creating a massive damage increase that standard Cast on Crit builds cannot easily replicate.
2. Put Blink on Your Second Weapon Set for Near-Zero Cooldown

Players frustrated by Blink's long cooldown can dramatically improve mobility with a simple weapon swap setup.

Equip Blink on your second weapon set, allowing your primary weapon to focus entirely on offensive stats.
Stack cooldown reduction through multiple sources, including Support Gems, a Corrupted Body Armour, inexpensive Jewels, and Temporal Magic modifiers on Boots.
A three-socket Sandspike with 28% Cooldown Recovery costs only around 1 Chaos Orb, making the setup affordable even early on.
3. Replace Archmage with Frost Wall for Massive Damage Scaling

Many players invest heavily into Archmage, only to struggle with Mana management while gaining relatively modest damage.

Instead, use Frost Wall as your primary damage multiplier.

Socket Vilgrath's Gem with Spark so that destroying Frost Wall produces a huge burst of additional damage.
Increase Frost Wall level and link it with Glacier Support, allowing the wall to reach over 640,000 Life.
This setup grants roughly 320% additional Cold Damage, eliminating the need to invest in Archmage while completely solving Mana issues.
4. Automate Your Entire Damage Rotation

This configuration is perfect for players who dislike constantly pressing multiple skills.

Place Frost Wall inside your Cast on Critical Strike setup so that Spark automatically creates walls whenever it scores critical hits.
As Frost Wall explodes, it triggers Cast on Elemental Ailment, automatically casting Comet without manual input.
Unlock the second Cast on Critical Strike slot through your Amulet and socket Arc, allowing monsters to die even before they enter your screen.
5. Enter Every Map with Seven Power Charges and Full Damage Buffs

Players who constantly lose buffs can maintain maximum damage by following the same preparation every map.

Equip Soul of Adonia as your primary weapon to gain massive multiplicative Elemental Damage while at maximum Power Charges.
Swap to your secondary weapon and cast Frost Bomb followed by Firestorm to quickly generate all 7 Power Charges.
Swap back to your primary weapon and activate Peak Power. Avoid switching weapons again to maintain the full 119% Elemental Damage bonus throughout the map.
6. Upgrade Gear in the Correct Order

Many players waste large amounts of Chaos Orbs by buying expensive Uniques before improving the pieces that matter most.

Upgrade your equipment in this order:

Start with a high-value Amulet featuring +3 to Spell Skill Levels. A Profane suffix further improves overall gem quality.
Prioritize a high Energy Shield Helmet with two sockets to increase both survivability and Item Rarity without excessive investment.
Craft cooldown modifiers onto Boots instead of buying finished gear. Save your currency for a future +4 Spell Skill Amulet after completing the rest of the setup.
7. Stack 21% Skill Quality for One of the Biggest Damage Gains

Many players underestimate Skill Quality, even though it provides some of the highest damage scaling available for this build.

Reach 21% total Skill Quality through:

Ascendancy progression
Fox Idol
Your Amulet
Gem Perfection from the Gemling Legionnaire Ascendancy

At maximum quality:

Spark gains additional projectiles, dramatically increasing mapping speed.
Comet gains a much higher Echo chance, allowing a single trigger to rain multiple Comets across the battlefield.
Damage against Frozen enemies increases by approximately 88%, making boss encounters much shorter.

Quick Tips

If dense monster packs cause frame rate drops, temporarily disable Arc from your automatic trigger setup and keep only Frost Wall plus Comet active for smoother gameplay.
Practice generating 7 Power Charges in your Hideout before mapping. Once mastered, the setup takes less than 5 seconds.
On a lower budget, don't chase 21% Skill Quality immediately. Prioritize cooldown recovery and basic damage scaling first, then gradually upgrade quality as your gear improves.

Benefits for Different Players

Budget Players

You don't need expensive Uniques to make this build work. Affordable Rare gear, inexpensive Jewels, and a few crafted modifiers are enough to create a powerful version capable of clearing high-tier maps with excellent mobility.

Dedicated Farmers

With fully automated damage and near-instant movement through Blink, mapping becomes significantly faster. Monsters disappear before reaching your screen, bosses die within seconds, and overall farming efficiency improves dramatically.

Mechanics Enthusiasts

This build showcases the full potential of the Gemling Legionnaire's Alternate Quality interactions. Instead of following conventional meta builds, you can experience a unique combination of Spark, Frost Wall, Cast on Critical Strike,  buy POE 2 Currency and Comet that offers both exceptional performance and satisfying gameplay.
